Dear St. James Families,
One of the joys of a school community is seeing the many ways we come together to celebrate, serve, and grow in faith. As we enter the end of October, we have much to be grateful for at St. James!
Thank you to everyone who helped make our Trunk or Treat such a wonderful event. The hospitality, generosity, joy, and sense of community on display are gifts from God. Halloween also gives us an opportunity to remember these and what we celebrate as Catholics. As we approach the great feasts of All Saints and All Souls Day, we are reminded that all of us are called to holiness and that we are meant to seek the light of Jesus.
At our recent all-school assembly, we recognized students on the honor rolls and celebrated students who demonstrated the virtue of clemency. We also held our Take the Tiger recognition. Congratulations to Mrs. Christina Green for decorating the winning pumpkin and earning, Bolt, the tiger, for the month for the Pre-K class!
A few school updates: Javier and Antonia Cruz, our custodians, are now wonderful members of our community and are parishioners at St. Pat’s. We are also happy about another addition to our maintenance team, Ron Prawitz, who will be our new maintenance technician. Ron works at Cathedral as their maintenance technician and will be shared with St James. Along with Ron, we created a new position, a facilities manager. Katie Williams will be overseeing the parish, church, convent, school, and facilities grounds. She has done a wonderful job managing the kitchen and could really help us out by managing all the facilities. Finally, as you know, Jessica Fisher is our office administrative assistant and has had a great start! She has done a wonderful job stepping into the administrative position.
Thank you to everyone who makes St. James a place where our children encounter faith through the people around them. These ordinary acts of generosity and service help us grow closer to our Lord and help proclaim the Gospel to people outside our community.
Have a Happy Halloween!
In Christ,
Mr. McDonnell
