Dear St. James Families,
We have some good things coming up at St. James!
First, a reminder that there will be no school on Monday for Labor Day. I hope everyone enjoys the long weekend with family and friends.
On Wednesday, we will have a very special addition to our playground. A privacy fence cover will be installed around the playground, thanks to the generosity and hard work of last year's 8th grade class. We are grateful for their generosity and for the families who helped make it possible.
We are also excited to announce that Red Fridays are coming back! In support of the Fire Foundation and our families here at St. James, we will once again have opportunities to wear red and support this important mission. The flyer is below but it will be $1 for students to wear a red top or red chiefs shirt and uniform bottoms. The proceeds will go to the FIRE foundation.

And finally, save the date for September 19! After the Southside Parade, we will have an Ice Cream Social at St. James (The flier is below). Come represent St. James at the parade, cheer on our community, and then come back to school for some ice cream and fellowship. We would love to see a great St. James turnout!

One of our goals this year is to experience more of the gift of community. That means strengthening our St. James community, being more connected to the Southside community, building relationships throughout the SJCA community, and reaching out to the broader St. Joseph community. A school is more than its classrooms. It is a group of people who share life together, and there is something beautiful that happens when we make the effort to know one another and enjoy one another's company.
So, start wearing your Red on Friday, come out for the parade, bring your family to the ice cream social, and let's continue building the kind of community we want our children to experience.
Have a wonderful Labor Day weekend, and may God bless you and your families!
Sincerely in Christ,
Mr. McDonnell
