Dear St. James Families,
What a blessed and full week it has been here at St. James! God gifted us with another stretch of beautiful weather, and I hope all of you and your families had the chance to enjoy it. Even with the sunshine, we certainly felt the effects of the stomach bug that moved through our school community. We missed the many students and teachers who were out sick, and we pray everyone is recovering and returning to good health.
One of the highlights of our week was our Veterans Day celebration. It was truly wonderful to see so many families and staff members who have served our country join us for lunch. Peggy English did a beautiful job coordinating the event and helping us express our appreciation. I would also like to extend my personal gratitude to all our veterans, thank you for your courage, sacrifice, and service. You are in our prayers, and we are honored to celebrate you.

Another exciting moment this week came on Thursday when our Academy basketball teams, both girls and boys, brought home tournament championships! We now have two fantastic trophies to add to our display case. The players shared that it was an all-around team effort, and we are incredibly proud of their hard work, teamwork, and determination.
We also continued our month of remembrance in a special way. Our Día de los Muertos altar remains a beautiful tribute to our loved ones who have passed away. Students prayed an all-school Rosary, and several classes deepened their understanding of this tradition through hands-on activities.
- Ms. Finder’s class created a mini ofrenda and her students visited classrooms to teach others about the meaning and customs of El Día de los Muertos.
- Mrs. Crifasi’s students designed a beautiful remembrance poster to honor family members and friends who have gone before us.
Looking Ahead
Next week, we are excited for the LeBlond musical on Friday. I can’t wait to see our students enjoy this performance and to welcome the families who join us. It will be a wonderful way to end the week together.
Finally, I want to share that we also celebrated the Memorial of the first American saint, St. Frances Xavier Cabrini. Her life of missionary zeal, love for the poor, and unwavering trust in God is an inspiring example for all of us, especially our female students. If you would like to learn more about her remarkable story, there is an excellent movie about her life available called Cabrini (PG-13), which I highly recommend for family viewing.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support, prayers, and presence in the life of our school. May God bless you and your families with rest, good health, and peace this weekend.
Sincerely in Christ,
Mr. McDonnell
